The resort area of Belek has grown up along a fantastic uninterrupted ribbon of white sand beach backed by lush pine forests and fields watered by turquoise rivers descending from the distant Taurus Mountains. Belek was chosen as a priority area of development to offer the best mix of attractions for tourists.
The region, bathed in sunshine for 300 days of the year, is a paradise of sunbathing and swimming and of sporting activities such as windsurfing, water skiing, sailing, rafting, mountain climbing and hunting. If you come to Belek in March and April, you may ski the mountains in the mornings and swim in the warm waters of the Mediterranean in the afternoons. Important historic sites and beautiful mosques await your discovery amid a landscape of pine forests, olive and citrus groves and palm, avocado and banana plantations.
A truly paradise for tourists on the shore of the Mediterranean in the midst of its own pine forests. Belek’s natural beauty was discovered in 1984 and the region was proclaimed the ” Belek Tourism Center”. In later years, Belek became what it is today, a paradise on earth.
The Belek region on the Mediterranean coast is located 30 kilometres on the east side of Antalya province. Belek is within easy reach of the facilities and amenities of Antalya, including the international airport, which is only a 20 minute drive away. Recently it was chosen by the Tourism Ministry to be a tourism model not just for today’s tourist, but also for the tourist of the next thousand years.
The region has 32 four or five-stars hotels and first-class holiday villages and five golf courses. All of the facilities that have been designated first-class provide an ideal atmosphere for families and meticulously offer many opportunities and services aimed at pleasing their guests. All the facilities offer floodlit tennis courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, completely equipped health and fitness centers, play areas and many more possibilities. In Belek Tourism Center 574 species of plants, 29 endemic (can only be found in Turkey) plants and the Serik Pear (Pyrus serikensis) have been detected. It is also known as a bird paradise where 109 different beautiful bird species including the Tyto Alba, a hooded owl which is symbol of Belek region, which can be observed easily during the 12 months of the year. The regional beaches are one of the outstanding laying eggs beaches for the aquatic turtles (Caretta caretta).
The area has become Turkey’s premier golfing centre and now boasts 5 world-class 18-hole golf courses, providing for all levels of player from beginners to experts.
